About Me

My Photo
Toni and Adam Bellamy are 4th generation independent liquor merchants. Their family has been providing the public with quality wines and ales almost since the dawn of time. Purveyors of the most commodified of liquor products to the specialisations of each brother. Toni, wine. Adam, Beer. A family owned business, you can regularly find Toni or Adam providing the knowledgeable service that is often considered dying in the digital age, pontificating, being charming, displaying their strong opinions about the Wine/Beer industry and occasionally working hard. If there is a product that you are distinctly looking for, if they don’t already carry it in stock. They will try their damned near hardest to track it down and get it in for you. There are two Platinum Liquor stores in metropolitan Sydney, and can find both are within walking distance of typically horrid NSW public trains. You can find them at: 25a Bellevue Rd, Bellevue Hill 2023. 02 9389 3875. & 169 Concord Rd, North Strathfield 2137. 02 9743 1572. Or you can send us one of those new electronic mail things on: platinumliquor@optusnet.com.au

Yiiiieeeeeaaahhhh Boooouuuuiiiiii

More Beer From Garret Oliver and Brooklyn Brewery.

'Monster Barley Wine'.
&
The Famous 'Black Chocolate Stout'.

Brilliant.

I have said once before that Oliver thinks about beer and executes it perfectly.
I also happen to think, that there is no one on the planet today that describes beer flavors as well or eloquently as him, how they come about and what food to accompany said beer.

The other thing I love about Mr. Oliver is that he has an uncanny resemblance to Cuba Gooding Jr in the classic film 'Boyz In The Hood"#.

Garret Oliver dresses always snappy, mainly in a suite. And I dig that quality in a man.
And, I don't need no fake piss ant wannabe faux video link up to know any of that info.

You don't simply listen to as much music, watch movies, read books about the Rat Pack and the shenanigans of the 60's without loving a suite as much as I do.
As early as I can remember. Even from the day of my catholic confirmation when I twelve years old.

Me? two piece three button suite. Charcoal black, baby blue shirt. Grey Tie. Pocket square.

The ohthers? Jeans, skate shoes and their best Billabong shirt.

I would wear a suite every day if I could.

But I cant, so thatst why I probably love them so much.

I apologise, that's a useless story none of you really needed to know or care about.

Now, come in, buy a whole heap of Monster Ale and Black Chocolate Stout, Turn up the PE (that's Public Enemy for those who didn't have an older brother growing up in the 90's) in full effect.

Yiiiieeeeeaaahhhh Boooouuuuiiiiii

#Boyz In The Hood Boyz n the Hood is a 1991 American hood film written and directed by John Singleton. Starring Cuba Gooding, Jr., Ice Cube, Laurence Fishburne, Morris Chestnut, Nia Long, Angela Bassett and Regina King, the film depicts life in poor South Central (now South) Los Angeles, California and was filmed and released in the summer of 1991. It was nominated for both Best Director and Original Screenplay during the 1991 Academy Awards, making Singleton the youngest person ever nominated for Best Director and the first African–American to be nominated for the award. In 2002, the United States Library of Congress deemed the film "culturally significant" and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry

Anchorage & Wayerbacher

Sounds a bit like a posh clothes manufacture.
Or some mega company destroying law firm.

However it’s just two new arrivals from some brilliant US brewers.

Anchorage are from Alaska.

MMMmmmmm

So, Alaska gave us Sarah Palin but these guys brew to make you forgive anything.

Specialising in barrel fermentation with brettanomyces and souring cultures. Blurring the lines between new and old styles of beer and brewing procedures, they take extreme steps to produce some of the most unique beers ever made.

At the moment we only have their Whiteout Wit Bier.

“Sorachi Ace hops contribute the lemony aroma and flavour, imparting additional life to the brew, reminding you of how good it is to be alive. Lemon peel, Indian coriander and black peppercorns add the same invigorating zest whiteout survivors feel when stepping from the world of white. Triple fermentation, the long slumber in French Chardonnay barrels and a shot of brettanomyces provide an explosion of flavour when combined with the other swirling, enticing elements. It's okay. Stand up, shake it off and feel alive; that's what Whiteout Wit is all about.“

From the Brewer. Sounds promising.

On the other hand, we have Wayerbacher from Pennsylvania.

Super yum, super crafted. One of the best of the best on the east coast.

We have their Old Heathen (RIS)
&
Blithering Idiot (Barley Wine) Mmmmm, sounds a bit like me….

They had some IPA’s but I didn't order any because I already have too many. What do you people want for me!!!????
Just joking, they were out of stock, relax.

New Mikkeller

New Mikkeller.

Sur Munk
BA Texas Ranger Speyside
Its Alive
Beer Geek Brunch Weasel
Beer Hop Breakfast
BooGoop (3F collaboration)

Once again, Obviously Mikkel's beers are considerably cheaper than they used to be when they were sold by some guy in QLD who was a bit crap. Ok, maybe a lot crap.

Clowning Around = Coulrophobia

I do have Coulrophobia. I have a fear of clowns.

Doesn’t count for the Joker though. The Clown Prince of Crime, has never bothered me.
He’s anarchistacally ( I think I just made that word up?) genius and funny as hell.
God bless his purple socks.

However, I can pretty much pin point that moment when I was 4 years old, and my older brother tortured me with the like of scary movies such as;

Alien & Aliens
Chucky 1 & 2
And how can I ever forget the movie ‘IT’ (scary clown below).

I Still don't even know what its about. Just that the red nosed clown scared the living day lights out of me.

I've never liked clowns/dolls/scary or horror movies ever in my life.

Bit of a pussy really.

I’ll be happy with Saving Private Ryan, thank you very much.

So, this made me a little anxious when I was ordering some beers from the American Brewer ‘Clown Shoes’.

But to my pleasant surprise, there is no clowns on the labels, just their silly Side Show Bob’ X-Large shoes.

Phhheewwww.

We have received their;

Clementine Wit Bier
Brown Angel Ale American Brown Ale
&
Eagle Claw Fist Imp. Amber Ale

Anyway. Now you know I’m easier to scare than the Lion out of ‘The Wizard of Oz’.

I'm not even going to tell you about how my brother tried to trick me into watching the ‘HELLRAISER’ franchise as a child.

Mentally scared forever.

"Freedom Is In Peril. Defend It With All Your Might"

We got all interior design at Bellevue Hill last week.

I even thought about growing one of those preposterous wispy moustaches and wearing big ‘Buddy Holly’ type spectacles. Then, I gathered my thoughts and decided that I wasn't a total prat.

This is my new sign.

I love it.

Owen will call me a hipster.

He may have reason.

However, I didn't buy the sign because it looks retro. Or because it would give the shop an old vintage motif/vibe, or that it would just look randomly cool.

Obviously being of Italian descent, watching SBS religiously as a child was a given.

Naturally, I'm obsessed with WWII, beating “Jerries” at anything (Damn you Vettel. Just wait till Fernando gets a decent seat!) Churchill, conservative governments, James May and “Jezza” of TG. (May sometimes wears the shirt in his spin off shows)

So, I saw the poster on sale online and, I Paypal’d that mother fu#$%r.

For those that don’t know. Keep Calm and Carry On was a propaganda poster produced by the British government in 1939 during the beginning of the Second World War, intended to raise the morale of the British public in the event of invasion.
The poster was initially produced by the Ministry of Information, in 1939, at the beginning of the Second World War. It was intended to be distributed in order to strengthen morale in the event of a wartime disaster. 2,500,000 copies were printed, although the poster was distributed only in limited numbers. The designer of the poster is not known.
The poster was third in a series of three. The previous two posters from the series, "Freedom Is In Peril. Defend It With All Your Might" (400,000 printed) and "Your Courage, Your Cheerfulness, Your Resolution Will Bring Us Victory" (800,000 printed) and were issued and used across the country for motivational purposes, as the Ministry of Information assumed that the events of the first weeks of the war would demoralise the population. Planning for the posters started in April 1939; by June designs were prepared, and by August 1939, they were on their way to the printers, to be placed up within 24 hours of the outbreak of war. The posters were designed to have a uniform device, be a design associated with the Ministry of Information, and have a unique and recognisable lettering, with a message from the King to his people. The slogans were created by civil servants, with a career civil servant, Waterfield, coming up with "Your Courage" as "a rallying war-cry that will bring out the best in everyone of us and put us in an offensive mood at once". These particular posters were designed as "a statement of the duty of the individual citizen", un-pictorial, to be accompanied by more colloquial designs. The "Your Courage" poster was much more famous during the war, as it was the first to go up, very large, and was the first of the Ministry of Information's posters. The press, fearful of censorship, created a backlash, and thus a lot of material related to these posters has been kept by archives.

Now, that info is all from wiki, which means it;
Might not be historically accurate.
&.
For half of this post you thought I was a wealth of information and intelligent. That would be a grave mistake giving me way too much credit.

Goodnight.

Ben 10

More Beer from Ben Kraus in Beechworth.

Ben's Bridge Road are now making more styles of beer than Gambrinus himslef.

The single hop Summer IPA is in.

Moon Doggie Town

Moon Dog (what is it with brewers and Dog's? Properly fu%&ed up) has arrived.
We only have the Skunkworks at the moment.
It is an DIPA, so you will be happy as fox in a chicken coop.

However, I think I'm already in love with Moon Dog. They are obviously out of their minds, which suites me to a tee.

looking forward to more of their pretty things in the future.

(The picture above has nothing to do with the brewery. I just found it, and it's brilliant. Maybe this will be one of their next beer labels? For a Double, Triple, Quad, Quintuple Imperial Moon Light Eclipse Stout?? Maybe I'll get a commission??)
